It was all joy and celebration on Saturday September 7, 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria as Fr. Hyacinth Ogbodo CSSp marks his 10th Ordination Anniversary.

Fr. Hyacinth IGWENAGU Ogbodo CSSp is both the parish priest of St. Francis Oregun as well as the Provincial Superior of Spiritans, Southwest Nigeria. Though ordained July 2003, he decided to have the “fiesta” in September, a time more convenient for all to be present.

The celebration started at 10am with the Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Hyacinth himself. Present as concelebrants were very many priests of Lagos Ecclesiatical Province led by Msgr. John Aniagwu, the Vicar General of Lagos Archdiocese. Of course, the Spiritans (priests/seminarians) were present en mass to show solidarity with our confrere/Superior. In addition, Religious women of various congregations working within and outside Lagos Archdiocese witnessed this great occasion. With thousands of lay faithful present, the liturgical celebration was profoundly agog with singing and dancing.

An elaborate entertainment cum merriment followed immediately after the mass. There was enough to eat and drink as well as well “take-away” souvenirs.
It was indeed a joyful day as we can see in the picture above, where Fr. Hyacinth happily leads the crowd (“IGWE”) in dancing to the rhythm of Igbo traditional music.

We wish Fr. Hyacinth many more happy years in the Lord’s vineyard and Spiritan Mission!
