EPC 2013

Our Enlarged Provincial Council (EPC) meeting kicked off August 5, 2013. Venue is our Provincialate in Benin City. The opening Recollection (“retreat”) was given by Fr. Aghadi SJ. Thereafter, the EPC was officially declared open with a simple liturgy of candle lighting.

Present for this epoch EPC are all confreres of the Southwest Province led by our Superior, Fr. Hyacinth Ogbodo, CSSp. The EPC Moderator is Fr. Leo Ekeanyanwu, CSSp while the Generalate (Rome) was represented by Fr. Bede Ukwuije, CSSp.

Daily updates on all proceedings are published in our Facebook page (Spiritans Southwest Nigeria) and our Twitter timeline (@csspnigeria).

We start off daily with Luads combined with Mass at 7am. This was followed by breakfast; thereafter, the review of our 2010 Chapter Document followed. Intermittently, we had paper presentations on Pastoral Administration and Health Matters followed by questions and discussions.

An Elective EPC
During our afternoon session on August 7, 2013,  we had the substantive voting for Superior, wherein Fr. Hyacinth OGBODO CSSp was unanimously (more than 2/3 majority = absolute majority) elected for a second term mandate. Fr. Bede Ukwuije CSSp, representing the Generalate in Rome, thanked all confreres. While we await the official endorsement of this election, we remain grateful to the Holy Spirit for inspiration and guidance. Later in the evening, we also elected three (3) Councillors who will work together with the Superior in the Provincial Council.

Other EPC highlights
On August 9, 2013 there will be the Ritual of Perpetual Religious Profession of a confrere, Vincent ODILI CSSp. The following day, August 10, he will be ordained a deacon by the bishop emeritus of Ekiti, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Olatunji Fagun.

This diaconate ordination will Mark the end of our Enlarged Provincoal Council 2013. Do continue to pray for us. Cor unum et anima una!

Once again, do visit our Facebook page (Spiritans Southwest Nigeria) and follow us on our two (2) Twitter accounts (@csspnigeria and @fadachy).

Bravo, folks you did it. My prayers and mind are with you. I miss all your jokes and frantic reflections at meetings such as this.
Well that is what we suffer when we are withdrawn from others dealing with health issues. I enjoy your prayers and supports from those who are writing me and updating me with the goings. I remember specially Fr. Chibuike Ojilere for finding time to drop words of solidarity. We need more people like him in our province. Wowo your sense of responsibility is contributing effectively to keep us together.

I want to congratulate Very Rev. Fr. Hy Ogbodo and our councilors for the good job they are doing and continue to do in our province. “More engine oil to their elbows”

Again we have got a new deacon. My brother you are welcome to the ministry of Jesus Christ from the Spiritan perspective. Remember mission is our character, whether it is at home or abroad. Get ready to embrace it.

    Bravo!!!
